Why St Thomas Aquinas High School Football Is The Best

By Jana Serrano

Victory can be elusive for some but constantly present for others. To the superstitious, this is highly connected to your fate or what the universe deems as your rightful destiny. To the bitter, they call this injustice. To the victors, they say that they simply have the luck and skills.

This game requires extensive training to maximize chances of winning and minimize the dangerous consequences of errors in this full contact sport. The number of students who participate have grown quite fast and they all have the passion and competitive edge to become champions. The Raiders, which is the St Thomas Aquinas High School football team, have won almost a hundred trophies.

The Raiders are considered the best football players in the high school level, and for valid reasons. They have also produced such student athletes as Chris Evert, Michael Irvin, and Sanya Richards Ross. Not only have they won tons of trophies, they have maintained an enviable culture of respect and professionalism.

Team sports are the best avenues for learning fantastic social skills as they provide a relatively safe simulation of what do during tough situations. One such setup can be found in schools during Physical Education classes and extra curricular activities that give students a chance at joining varsity teams and compete with other schools.

Like everyone else, these players are not perfect. Despite all their victories, they have also admitted to certain areas of improvement in their game play and attitude as a whole. Some verbalized about their complacency and arrogance, specifically in their game against another group early in the season back in 2014. Later on they realized that they have to be more focused and not to take anyone for granted. Such change in behavior paid off and has kept them at the top of the game ever since.

St Thomas coach Rocco Casullo himself has verbalized how proud he is of the guys on the offense, defense, and special teams. He mentioned that they put it all together after their previous loss. This shows resilience which makes them very admirable and popular.

The Raiders have been through ups and downs, just like everyone else. It goes without saying that they too faced their own weaknesses and bounced right back. With the help of their mentors and the support of the entire school, their players have learned valuable lessons, survived, and prospered season after season of hardcore full contact games.

People have regarded The Raiders to be one of the best. They are deemed as good models for other youth players and are idolized by so many. Their fan base extends from students to older adults, and may have very well been responsible for initiating plenty of non football fanatics into the fold.

The Raiders took on the challenge of football as high school kids. That alone is a great inspiration for people to have more confidence in themselves and at least have a shot of pursuing their passion, may it be sport or another endeavor. It may be just a game to some, but to others it is a life changing and enlightening path to discover your capabilities and test your limits. This true test of character and resilience among the youth has been definitely proven by the St Thomas Aquinas Football Team.
