More Effective and Safer Than a Flu Shot

As we begin the winter (and holiday) season in Chicagoland, we're all worried about staying healthy. Getting a Flu Shot is not the answer - It's ineffective and has side effects. In fact, so many top researchers and medical doctors have spoken out against this broken system of disease-care that keeps the American public sick. Just recently in the media, a researcher at Johns Hopkins slammed the flu vaccine publicly.

Here are my healthy, safe, and effective tips to take care of your health now and prevent the flu / colds this season:

* Probiotics daily: 80 % of the immune system is actually housed inside the digestive system!
* Drink a mug of warm water with half a fresh squeezed lemon: daily, 15 mins. before breakfast. It promotes liver detoxification, and the body getting rid of things that don't benefit us
* NO hand sanitizer use: just like antibiotics, hand sanitizers kill both good and bad bacteria, which actually worsen our immune system. They also contain Triclosan, which is harmful to our environment. AND, if that wasn't enough, most inexpensive store bought products don't even contain the required 60-95% alcohol content that made the product effective in the first place (read: marketing scam). If you still like the convenience of using a hand spray, the only option I'd feel comfortable recommending is the Thieves Hand Spray by Young Living (made from therapeutic-grade essential oils).

* Chiropractic adjustments: boost the immune system and allows our body to function well so it can adapt and prevent flu from occurring. In fact just today I had a patient tell me "both of my co-workers that sit next to me at work are sick with the flu, and I haven't gotten sick at all. In fact, now that I think about it, it's been years since I've had a cold or flu!" Both health and sickness come from within, starting with the master control system (the nervous system and spine) that controls each cell, tissue, organ, and muscle.

* Avoid these types of foods: sugar (including fruit!), dairy, carbs, packaged hidden sugar (example -granola bars, Naked juice drinks, etc.) because they all promote the formation of mucus and weaken the immune system.

*DO consume these foods: Dark leafy greens and parsley. Did you know that kale and red peppers have 3 times more Vitamin C than an orange? Brussels sprouts, broccoli and tomatoes are high in Vitamin C as well.

* Wear a scarf: the easiest way to get cold into your chest is to not protect yourself properly. It's not just a fashion statement:)
